Last night we swapped our own tasting table for one @theclockspire Steve Mason, their very knowledgeable new GM, who just so happens to be a big wino, invited us to experience the chef’s menu while quietly putting us through our paces with an impromptu blind tasting. Exactly the sort of evening we enjoy. Huge thanks to Steve for the wonderful welcome, to Marie for looking after us so brilliantly (we’re already looking forward to trying your family’s grower Champagne), and to chefs Luke and Hayden for a menu full of confidence, precision and a few delicious surprises. We left inspired. It reminded us what we have on our doorstep. Hospitality works best when people share ideas as readily as they share good bottles, and we’re looking forward to returning the favour at Vineyards very soon. Hosted by Sadie and Hannah, selecting those wines that are made to be super chilled, fresh, crisp and enjoyed with blazing rays and a waft of sunscreen. As any good Vineyards’ tasting does, we’ll cover sense of place, grape low downs, and killer pairings. Trust us when we say, the wines from this tasting will bookmark your summer – at home, away, in the garden, with friends, at the beach, or beside the newly purchased aircon unit which means it’s more Livin’ la Vida homebound this year.
