Happy Pride

It’s Pride month and this year is a special one as it marks 50 years since the first! Pride means something different to everyone: a protest, a coming together, a celebration — to name but a few. To us, it’s about being comfortable enough in your own skin to simply be you.

We’ve come a long way in 50 years, but there’s still some journeying to go. There’s not many openly ‘out’ folk in the wine trade, so much so that we often get another female couple who run a shop up north mentioned to us ‘You should pay them a visit’ etc. We’ve met them and yes, they are lovely! But doesn’t it say something if you can count on one hand those who are similar to you.

We’ve always set out to make Vineyards a place for everyone, and we celebrate diversity and inclusivity daily. There’s only one requirement to be in our gang — a love of great wine! We look forward to a day, when sexuality, gender, race, religion, anything that makes you ‘different’ isn’t a consideration in friendship, business, love, law, life. But for now, let’s make some noise, because hope is never silent!
